About HomeGrow

An independent educational resource covering home cannabis cultivation in 20 US states and Washington, DC.

Mission

Adult-use home cannabis cultivation laws now span many US jurisdictions. HomeGrow currently covers 20 states and Washington, DC — but the information to do it well is fragmented across state statutes, grow forums, videos, and marketing-heavy seed bank sites.

HomeGrow consolidates the answers. Every page is built around a practical question a legal home grower actually asks: "What's legal in my state?", "What equipment do I need for a 2×4 tent?", "Why are my leaves yellow?", "How much does a harvest actually cost?"

What you'll find here

About this site

HomeGrow is independent. It is not funded by dispensaries, seed banks, or cannabis industry investors, and it is not backed by a media holding company or a VC round.

This independence matters because it determines what gets written and how. Dispensary-owned sites push consumption; seed-bank sites push their own strains; stoner-culture blogs don't prioritize legal accuracy. HomeGrow was built to fill the gap: accurate legal information, genuinely useful cultivation guidance, and honest product recommendations — all written for adults in the states where this is legal.

How HomeGrow pays for itself

HomeGrow monetizes through affiliate relationships. When readers buy equipment or seeds through links on the site, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to the reader. Primary partners:

  • Amazon Associates for growing equipment (lights, tents, fans, nutrients, testing gear).
  • Fast Buds for autoflower seeds (with a 15% reader discount via code HGAPP).
  • ILGM (I Love Growing Marijuana) for feminized photoperiod seeds.

Every affiliate link is disclosed on the page where it appears. Product recommendations are based on the actual merits of the product — never on commission rate. Full affiliate disclosure here.

Editorial standards

Legal content:State legal pages are reviewed against official state statutes and cannabis control board publications. When laws change, the affected pages are updated and a "Last reviewed" date is bumped at the top of the page.

Cultivation content: Written from cultivation experience and supported by extension-office horticulture research and peer-reviewed studies where applicable. Equipment recommendations are based on direct use, published specifications, and cross-checks against grower-community consensus.

What HomeGrow is not: HomeGrow does not provide medical advice — cannabis has real effects and users should consult a physician about therapeutic use. HomeGrow does not provide legal advice — state laws are complex and change frequently, and specific legal questions should be directed to a licensed attorney in the relevant state.

Public project identity

HomeGrow's public source repository is available on GitHub. This official repository link is also declared in the site's Organization structured data so search engines and agents can connect the HomeGrow name, the canonical domain, and the maintained project without relying on fabricated social profiles.

Age gate

HomeGrow is intended for adults 21 and over. Home cannabis cultivation is subject to strict age requirements under every state's legal framework. If you are not of legal age in your state, please leave the site.
