I started HomeGrow because my friends kept asking me the same question: "What's actually legal in my state, and how do I grow without screwing it up?"
Every answer lived across a dozen sources — state statutes in one place, grow guides in another, strain recommendations scattered across Reddit threads. So I consolidated the answers into a single, state-by-state resource. HomeGrow covers the 22 states and DC where home cultivation is legal, with plant limits, compliance guides, climate-matched strain recommendations, and equipment picks vetted against what actually works.
What I cover
- US state-by-state home-grow laws, plant limits, and compliance
- Indoor and outdoor cultivation techniques for legal home growers
- Equipment selection — lights, tents, ventilation, nutrients, pH meters
- Plant health diagnosis and troubleshooting
- Cost analysis and break-even math for home growers
How HomeGrow is different
Most cannabis sites are either dispensary-funded, seed-bank-owned, or stoner-culture blogs. HomeGrow is independent, editorial, and built for adults who want accurate legal information and genuinely useful cultivation guidance — not marketing.
The site monetizes through affiliate links to growing equipment (Amazon Associates; occasionally seed banks). I only recommend gear I'd use myself, and every product page is clearly marked. Full affiliate disclosure.
Editorial standards
State legal pages are reviewed against official state statutes and cannabis control board publications. When laws change, the affected pages get updated and the "Last reviewed" date is bumped. Cultivation content draws on extension-office horticulture research, peer-reviewed studies where available, and direct cultivation experience.
I do not offer medical advice. HomeGrow is not a substitute for a licensed medical professional or an attorney.
